Göflan Marble Quarry Tour

Laas - Tarnell-Hof - Marmorbruch - Göflaner Alm - Morter - Latsch

06:40
45 km
1550 m

This challenging tour leads to the historic Göflan marble quarry, one of the most significant marble mining areas in the Alps. From Laas, the route climbs through Tarnell on a well-maintained forest road to the historic marble block transport route.

The ascent to the quarry (2,150 m) follows the former transport route, which has been used for over 150 years to transport the world-famous Lasa marble. Passing the miners' house, you reach the active quarry.

The descent first leads to the Göflan Alpine Pasture (1,827 m) via a technically demanding trail. Via the Köhlplätze (1,682 m) and the Haslhof farm, the route continues to the abandoned Weiskaser Alpine pasture. The final trail above Morter requires advanced riding skills and joins the cycle path to Latsch.

Technical Details:
  • Highest point: 2,150 m (marble quarry)
  • Difficulty level: difficult
  • Required riding skills: advanced
