Arriving in Merano by car or motorbike

Directions from Switzerland: Via the Engadine and the Ofen Pass you reach the Münstertal (Rhaeto-Romanic Val Müstair) and Glurns in the Vinschgau Valley. There you continue in the direction of Schlanders-Silandro to Merano on state road 38 (SS 38).

Directions from Austria or Germany: From Munich via Kufstein on the Inntal motorway A 12 in the direction of Innsbruck to the Brenner Pass to Bolzano (A 22). From Bolzano via the motorway (MeBo) to Merano. Alternative: via the Reschen Pass through the Vinschgau Valley to Merano.

Arrival by train

Board the train at home, arrive relaxed in South Tyrol free of traffic jams.

Arriving by train from Switzerland

  • Landquart-Zernez: From Landquart with the Rhaetian Railway to Zernez, continue by bus (PostBus) to Mals. With the Vinschger Bahn through the Vinschgau Valley to Merano. Journey time Landquart to Merano: approx. 4.5 to 5 hours.
  • Innsbruck: with the Railjet Express or Eurocity to Innsbruck, continue with the ÖBB regional train to Brenner and continue with the Trenitalia regional train to Merano (possibly change in Bolzano), Eurocity alternative: from Innsbruck to Bolzano with the Eurocity and from Bolzano to Merano with the regional train. Journey time Zurich-Meran via Innsbruck: 6 to 7 hours.

Arrival by bus and train from Austria

  • via Landeck: by bus 4210 (PostAuto) from Landeck in the direction of Mals (journey time approx.: 2 hours) and from Malles-Mals with the Vinschger Bahn to Merano (journey time approx.: 1.5 hours).
  • via Innsbruck: with the ÖBB regional train to Brenner and further with the Trenitalia regional train to Merano (possibly change in Bolzano), Eurocity alternative: from Innsbruck to Bolzano with the Eurocity and from Bolzano to Merano with the regional train (journey time approx.: 3 hours).
  • via Lienz: by RegioExpress to Franzensfeste and continue by regional train to Merano (journey time approx.: 4 hours).

Arrival by train from Germany

  • via Munich: with the DB-ÖBB EuroCity in approx. 4 hours from Munich to Bolzano, change there and approx. 45 minutes to Merano.
