Matscher Alm - Alpine Hut
The Matscher Alm is one of the best-known alpine pastures in the upper Vinschgau. Situated at 2,045 metres at the end of the Matsch high valley, it offers views across the peaks of the Ötztal Alps and the broad valley below. The Vinschgau High Trail passes directly by the hut.
Around 40 dairy cows spend the summer on the pasture. Their milk is processed on site into cheese, curd and butter. These fresh alpine products can be tasted and purchased at the hut. The kitchen also serves homemade South Tyrolean dishes that reward hikers and cyclists after the ascent.
