Marzoner Alm - Alpine Hut

Die Marzoner Alm ist eine idyllisch gelegene Almhütte oberhalb von Kastelbell/Tschars im Vinschgau. Die Alm ist ein beliebtes Ziel für Wanderer, Mountainbiker und Naturliebhaber, die die Ruhe der Berge und die wunderschöne Aussicht auf das umliegende Tal genießen möchten. Es werden typische Südtiroler Spezialitäten und eine freundliche, familiäre Atmosphäre geboten, die zum Verweilen einlädt.

Besonders im Sommer und Herbst ist die Marzoner Alm ein perfekter Ausgangspunkt für verschiedenste Wanderungen und Touren in die umliegenden Berge.

The Marzoner Alm sits on a meadow at the forest edge above Kastelbell and Tschars in the lower Vinschgau. The Gerstgrasser family runs the hut and serves Tyrolean specialities, various dumpling dishes and salad from their own garden. In the Stadlbar, wines from the region can be tasted alongside the alpine dishes.

The view from the hut stretches across the sunny side of the Vinschgau to the entrance of the Schnals valley. The ascent leads from Tschars through apple orchards and forest paths and is also manageable with a pushchair. In autumn, the popular Almfest festival takes place at the Marzoner Alm.

How to get to the Marzoner Alm - Alpine Hut by bike

Start at the Vinschgau cycle path near Tschars (Restaurant Kesslwirt). Cross the Etsch bridge through apple orchards, then climb to the hamlet of Tomberg. At the Zirmtal junction, turn towards Marzoner Alm. The return can be via Kastelbell and the cycle path. Parking in Tschars and Kastelbell. Vinschger Bahn train to Kastelbell or Tschars.

The Marzoner Alm is open from spring to late autumn. In spring, the ride passes through blooming apple orchards, a typical image of the Vinschgau spring. In summer, the hut is a culinary destination with regional cuisine and wine tasting in the Stadlbar. Autumn is Almfest season: in early October, the Marzoner Alm celebrates with music and Vinschgau specialities. Especially rewarding is the combination with the Tannenzapfentrail for the descent.

How do I reach the Marzoner Alm by e-bike?
From Tschars on the Vinschgau cycle path, cross the Etsch bridge and climb through apple orchards. The tour is around 25.5 km with approx. 1,070 metres of elevation gain, doable in three to four hours by e-bike.
Is there a trail for the descent?
Yes, the Tannenzapfentrail leads from the Marzoner Alm via flowy sections back to the valley. Alternatively, descend via the forest road past the castle rock of Schloss Kastelbell to Kastelbell.
