Tschilli-Trail

  • Length: 9 km
  • Altitude: -1100 hm
  • Difficulty level: S2 / S3
  • Place: Latsch

The Tschilli Trail, located in the picturesque surroundings of Latsch in Vinschgau, offers an unparalleled mountain bike tour, appealing to both freeride enthusiasts and those seeking breathtaking landscapes.

This tour begins at the mountain station of the St. Martin im Kofel cable car. The initial sections of the Tschilli Trail are shared with the Sunny Benny. At an altitude of 1,570 m, the trails diverge and the Tschilli Trail starts to unveil its unique character, offering an array of technical challenges in the form of rock fields and root passages.

Initially, the old church path winds rather leisurely, punctuated by some roots and stones. However, the terrain intensifies, becoming significantly more challenging. A steep and technical section requires precise line choice and stable tyre pressure. Special care should be taken at the final drop onto the now asphalted road.

After this demanding but thrilling stretch, the Ratschillhof offers the opportunity for a brief rest. This rustic stopover, from which the trail's name is derived, is approximately 500 meters from the asphalt road. The route then continues along hiking trail No. 7, before turning right and becoming technical and rocky again, leading up to the Annaberger gravel road.

The next highlight of the tour is the section of the Annaberger Böden, an old cattle path, which descends slightly but features some short ascents. This lower section of the trail provides a wonderfully smooth riding experience and leads to the suspension bridge. At this point, riders rejoin the Sunny Benny Trail.

Overall, the Tschilli Trail stretches over a distance of about 8-9 km and overcomes approximately 1,100 vertical meters. It offers a wide range of riding techniques that test both your skills and endurance. However, beyond the athletic challenge, it's worth remembering that this trail offers some of the most stunning views in the entire Vinschgau, especially at the Annaberger Böden.

The return trip to the cable car in Latsch is via the Vinschgau Cycle Path.

IMPORTANT: Please note that the trail shares some parts with hiking trails, and hikers have right of way.

The Tschilli Trail is an absolute must for every mountain bike enthusiast. It combines technical terrain, a fluid riding experience, and spectacular views in a way that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.
