The Tschilli Trail, located in the picturesque surroundings of Latsch in the Vinschgau (Val Venosta), offers an incomparable mountain bike tour that will appeal both to freeride enthusiasts and to those looking for breathtaking scenery.

This tour starts at the top station of the St. Martin im Kofel cable car. The first sections of the Tschilli Trail are shared with the Sunny Benny. At an altitude of 1,570 m the routes split, and the Tschilli Trail takes on its own character, offering plenty of technical challenges in the form of rock gardens and root sections.

At first, the old church path winds along quite easily, interspersed with a few roots and rocks. Then the terrain intensifies and becomes considerably more demanding. A steep and technical section calls for precise line choice and solid tyre pressure. Take particular care on the last drop onto the road, which is now paved.

After this strenuous but exciting section, the Ratschillhof offers the chance for a short break. This rustic inn, from which the trail also takes its name, is about 500 metres from the paved road. After that the route continues on hiking path no. 7, before turning right and becoming technical and rocky again until you reach the Annaberg gravel road.

The next highlight of the tour is the section across the Annaberger Böden, an old cow path that leads gently downhill, though with a few short climbs. This lower section of the trail offers a wonderfully flowing ride and leads to the suspension bridge. At this point riders meet the Sunny Benny Trail again.

In total, the Tschilli Trail covers a distance of 8-9 km and approx. 1,100 m of elevation. It calls for a wide range of riding techniques that will test both your skills and your stamina. But besides the sporting challenge, do not forget that this trail offers some of the most breathtaking views in the entire Vinschgau, especially on the Annaberger Böden.

The return to Latsch and the cable car is via the Vinschgau cycle path.

IMPORTANT: Please note that in some places the trail is shared with hiking paths and hikers have priority.

The Tschilli Trail is an absolute must for every mountain bike enthusiast. It combines technical terrain, a flowing ride and spectacular views in a way you are sure to remember.
