Melager Alm - Alpine Hut

The Melager Alm stands at the head of the Langtaufers valley, surrounded by the glaciers of the Ötztal Alps. From here, the three-thousand-metre peaks of the Weißkugel group seem close enough to touch. Despite its high alpine setting at nearly 2,000 metres, the hut can be reached on simple forest paths, even with a pushchair.

The cuisine of the Melager Alm has been recognised by the Gault & Millau restaurant guide. From the hamlet of Melag, the hut is about a 30-minute walk. Beyond the hut, the Langtaufers Glacier Trail leads on to the Weißkugelhütte, offering insights into glacier retreat, botany and geology of the high alpine region.
