Melager Alm - Alpine Hut
Three Alpine Huts Tour - Langtaufers Valley
- Duration: approx. four hours by e-bike
- Length: approx. 32.5 km
- Uphill: approx. 1030 m
- Downhill: approx. 970 m
The Langtaufers Valley is a long, stretched and pristine high valley, lined with hamlets, meadows and alpine pastures. It is towered over by the Ötztal Alps with over 30 majestic three-thousand-meter peaks like the Weißkugel (3,739 m). From Graun at Lake Reschen, we first take the Langtaufers road and then a shady forest path to the unmanaged Kaproner Alm (1,954 m). Through several ascents and descents, we continue to the junction to the mountain hut Maseben at 2,200 meters. The detour there is rewarded with a lunch stop, where South Tyrolean classics like speck dumplings are on the menu as well as newly interpreted dishes of regional cuisine. Back at the junction, we ride down towards Karlinbach and along this mountain stream to the Melager Alm at the end of the valley. From here, the glaciers seem within reach. A forest path leads back down to Mühl. Slowly Lake Reschen comes into view until we finally arrive back in Graun.
