The Bike Highline Merano connects a wide range of cycling tours between Vinschgau and Merano. This loop tour takes us high above the valley along the northern slope of Naturns.
We start in Töll at the bridge over the Adige River and head straight up the ascent to Aschbach. Once at the top, the stunning view from the little church of Maria Schnee makes the effort of the steep climb worthwhile. We continue towards Vigiljoch and join the Bike Highline Merano. This high-altitude trail, running between 1,450 and 1,900 meters, leads us to several alpine huts offering food and refreshments: Naturnser Alm, Zetnalm, Mausloch-Alm and Tablander Alm spoil us with typical South Tyrolean dishes. The view stretches across the Vinschgau valley and to the peaks of the Texel Group on the opposite side. Beyond Tablander Alm, we descend to the Schartegg car park, where the Lupotrail begins and takes us down to Tabland. We ride back to Töll along the cycle path through the apple orchards.
