Schliniger Alm - Alpine Hut

The Schliniger Alm stands at 1,868 metres in the Schlinig high valley, at the foot of the Sesvenna range near the Swiss border. Around 70 cows spend the alpine summer here. From their milk, the dairymen have been producing about seven tonnes of alpine cheese per season for over 20 years, along with butter, yoghurt and fresh cheese. The cheese can be tasted and purchased directly at the hut.

From the village of Schlinig, the hut is easily accessible on foot; the path is even suitable for pushchairs. In winter, the Schliniger Alm is a popular destination for cross-country skiers and winter hikers. Smugglers once used this route as a hidden path into Switzerland.
