Wurzer Alm - Alpine Hut

The Wurzer Alm lies nestled between meadows and forests above Hafling at 1,707 metres. From the terrace, the view sweeps from the Ă–tztal Alps in the northwest across the Ortler massif to the Mendel in the south. In 2014, the Wurzer Alm was named the most beautiful alpine hut in South Tyrol.

Hostess Ulrike treats her guests to fresh ingredients from the hut and the region. The menu features South Tyrolean dishes such as cheese dumplings and spinach dumplings. The hut can be reached on foot or by mountain bike from both Hafling village and Meran 2000.

How to get to the Wurzer Alm - Alpine Hut by bike

From Hafling village: below the Gothic parish church, the path to the Wurzer Alm branches off. Via switchbacks past farms and the Kamper Weiher pond through conifer forests uphill (approx. 400 m elevation). Alternatively from Meran 2000 via the high trail. Parking in Hafling village. The Hafling cable car or Meran 2000 gondola can be used as uplift.

The Wurzer Alm is open in summer and autumn. The e-bike tour from Hafling is appealing throughout the season: in early summer the meadows on the plateau bloom, in midsummer the altitude offers pleasant coolness with panoramic views. Autumn on the Hafling plateau is especially beautiful when the larch forests change colour and the views stretch far into the Alps. The tour can easily be combined with the Leadner Alm and Gasthof Waldbichl as additional refreshment stops.
