Möltner Kaser

The Möltner Kaser stands on the Salten, a sunny high plateau far above the Adige valley near Mölten. The Gruber family runs the hut in its second generation. Located at the foot of the Stoanerne Mandln in the Sarntal Alps, the hut offers a wide view across the mountain landscape around Bolzano and Merano.

The menu features hearty meat dishes, speck dumplings, fried potatoes with fried eggs and Kaiserschmarren. A playground provides entertainment for the little ones. From the Schermoos hiking car park above Mölten, a gentle path leads to the hut in about one and a half hours.

How to get to the Möltner Kaser by bike

The mountain bike tour to the Stoanerne Mandln starts in Mölten. Via the Salten, forest roads lead to the Möltner Kaser and on to the mystical stone formations of the Stoanerne Mandln at 2,003 metres. Parking at the Schermoos hiking car park above Mölten. The Vilpian-Mölten cable car provides an uplift to the plateau.

Möltner Kaser throughout the year

The Möltner Kaser is open daily from late April to early November. In spring, the crocus bloom on the Salten transforms the meadows around the hut into a sea of purple. In summer, the tour to the Stoanerne Mandln is a classic that can be combined with a stop at the Möltner Kaser. In autumn, the Salten and the Sarntal Alps offer especially clear views across the Adige valley and the Merano basin.
