Current situation
South Tyrol is classified as a "white zone". So-called white zones, are regions with the lowest risk and therefore have more freedom. Masks are mandatory both outdoors (only in crowds) and indoors. There are no shortened opening hours and movements are unrestricted.
Entering Italy: What is required?
The borders are open. The following documents are randomly checked at the border:
Evidence of a negative test
PCR test, which must not be older than 48 hours
Antigen test, which must not be older than 24 hours.

Outdoor activities are permitted subject to the general rules of conduct:
Minimum distance between persons of two metres
Retail shops are open from Mon. to Sun.
Public transport and cable cars operate at 80% capacity. Super Green Pass needed.
Open cable cars and chairlifts operate normally.
An FFP-2 mask must be worn on public transport.
Pools and swimming centres are open. Super Green Pass needed.
Museen are open. Super Green Pass needed.
Gyms are open. Super Green Pass needed.
Visits to theatres, cinemas and concert halls are possible by reservation. Super Green Pass needed.
Outdoor events take place. Super Green Pass needed.
As a general rule: wash your hands frequently and keep a safe distance, even outdoors.
"Green Pass" (3G) in South Tyrol
The Green-Pass (ital. Green Pass base) certifies one of the points:
Vaccination (valid for one year from the second vaccination)
Covid 19 disease recovery (valid for 6 months)
negative test result of an antigen test (valid for 48 hours)
negative test result of a PCR test (valid for 72 hours)
"Super Green Pass" (2G) in South Tyrol
On 6 December 2021, Italy introduced the so-called Super Green Pass (ital. Green Pass rafforzato), which certifies one of the points:
Vaccination (valid for 6 months from the second vaccination)
Covid 19 disease recovery (valid for 6 months)
For children under 12 years no certificate is required.
